Salmon
Fish and color

This page provides significant information I've found concerning lure color and what it means to fish (salmon).

Click here for a good article on how color impacts your fishing success. Its about Great Lakes fish but I'm pretty sure the principles apply in Lake Sakakawea.

Here's another site you may find interesting. Click to jump.

The above diagram illustrates how colors are filtered out as the water depth increases. The red portion of the color spectrum is blocked most shallow. Chartreuse is the last to be blocked. I have to confess that I swiped this from a site developed in Finland. Sorry, but its the best thing I've seen.

Please visit the Finnish web site. I sure can't read it but I can interpret the graphics. Nice job!

This photo illustrates how lure color or appearance changes as the water depth increases. Note ow the re/pink color turns to black. The green/hartreuse seem to retain their "look". Again, I swiped this from the site in Finland. Sorry again but its just to great to pass up.

You should check out the other tips provided on the Finnish web site. Note the list of links on the left side of the page.
