Subject: ND Salmon Spawn 10/16/06

The nice weather allowed us to collect fish from both Sakakawea and the Tailrace today. We took 160,000 green eggs which brings our total to approximately 700,000 (details attached). Both South Dakota and Montana were planning on collecting eggs again early this week and, since we are very near our goal, we will likely chat with them before deciding when / if we will take eggs again.

2005 Data Tables - Jack Long

2005 Spawning Data Table

Final summary for this fall on 10-25-05. We caught 2,048 fish and collected eggs from 823 good females. Total eggs taken for the year is almost 1.7 million, of which 350,600 went directly to a SD hatchery. We have an estimated 1,333,000 eggs in Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery. They have said the first couple takes have eyed up already and they look good. All for now.

2004 Salmon Stocking Completed

Last fall, the Game and Fish Department aquired more than its 900,000 target of salmon eggs. Those eggs have resulted in a stocking of about 320,000 salmon in 2004. If we can get through this low water period, the future of the Lake Sakakawea salmon fishery is bright!!!
