Rhys Davis Teaser Lures & Cut Bait Tip Sheet 1. Teaser lures with herring strip should revolve at one to two
turns per second. 2. The correct type of action is a roll as opposed to a spin. (When spinning, the tail end rotates in
a larger diameter circle than the head end.) 3. The Teaser lures can be tuned for a range of boat speeds with best results
usually between 2.0 to 3.0 mph. 4. Thaw bait out completely before using. The best way to do this, is to put the bait
in a bucket of water on your way out to your fishing destination and by the time you are ready to set up they should be completely
thawed. 5. Replace the toothpick point in the blister in the tail of the Teaser lure at the start of each day of fishing.
This allows consistent positioning of the hook in relationship to the lure and herring strip. 6. Often, several salmon
can be caught using the same herring strip. Baits can be refrozen after using. Place in a covered plastic container with
water. After a couple times refreezing the bait will swell and become harder to put in the holder. When this happens it
is time to replace it with fresh bait. 7. If you are fishing for a few days you can place the bait in a sealed plastic
container in your refrigerator or ice cooler. (Always keep moist.) If the action seems to be wrong you can do the
following to correct it: For Slow Acting (rolling) Strips… 1. Speed up, or 2. Move the hook forward
to within 1/4 inch of the tail of the plastic lure, or 3. Bend the last 1/4 inch of the plastic lure tail down and away
from the strip. For Fast Acting (rolling) Strips… 1. Slow down, or 2. Move the hook back even with
the tail end of the herring strip, or 3. Flatten out the plastic tail section of the lure. Recommended leader
lengths for teasers. 1. For feeding Chinooks……………..3 1/2 ft. 2. For adult Chinooks………………..5 to 6 ft.
Trolling the Teaser lures with herring strip behind a Big Shooter flasher is a deadly technique on the Missouri River
reservoirs. A combination of Teaser lures with and without flashers on your various downriggers can be an effective presentation.
A Teaser lure without a flasher run as a secured slider allows fishing additional depths.
